Fossil-Free Vatican

Fossil-Free Vatican
January 14, 2015 | Bantayog ng mga Bayani Foundation, Quezon City

We applaud Pope Francis' progressive position in accepting the scientific findings confirming human responsibility for current climatic changes. We laud him for his recent public pronouncements that underscore the need for urgent action from the global community to avert further catastrophe. We find his decision to visit the Philippines very admirable because it highlights his solidarity with the plight of the vulnerable communities to climate change.

We are hopeful that his words would echo into concrete changes within the Roman Catholic Church starting with divesting the Vatican Bank from fossil fuel investments, which would pave the way for the entire Roman Catholic Church to usher in a fossil-free future.

That is why we are inviting you for a forum-gathering rallying faith-based communities and various sectors to understand the connection between climate change, investments and Pope Francis.
