Sapatos Project - Year 3

THE SAPATOS PROJECT

In 2010, the members of the Quality Team in one of the BPO companies in Pampanga were inspired to celebrate their Christmas Party in one of the orphanages in Angeles City. When the idea came about, the quality specialists and experts got so excited that they were able to raise funds in a short span of time and provide for the computer package and school needs of the kids in the institution.

Since then, the activity became an annual event of sharing, giving and paying it forward to the different institutions in Pampanga.
• Children’s Home of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Balibago, Angeles City – 2010
• Elders’ Home, Bahay Pag-ibig, San Fernando, Pampanga – 2011
• Children’s Home of Eucharistic Love and Kindness, Telabastagan, San Fernando, Pampanga - 2012
• Duyan ni Maria, Malabanias, Angeles City – 2012, 2013 and 2014

In 2012 when the group was planning for this activity, the 60 kids from Duyan ni Maria shared their need and simple dream of having a new pair of black shoes for the incoming academic year. Making this dream a reality brought the group so much joy that it ignited a deep passion to serve these kids… giving birth to this project.

DUYAN NI MARIA
Situated in Malabanias Road, Angeles City, the institution is a home to 60 kids, ages ranging from less than one year to 20 years old, who were abandoned, neglected and maltreated by their families and relatives. “Duyan” not only provides shelter and home care but it ensures that the kids will have a brighter future by supporting their education from elementary until college, through the assistance of different benefactors.

HOW YOU CAN BE A BLESSING
The organizers are raising funds for the following needs of the children and the institution:
• For the Kids
o Black school shoes and socks
o Clothing: undergarments
o Personal hygiene needs
o Milk and diapers for infants

• For the Institution
o Rice, groceries and milk: For the daily meals of the kids and the staff
o Kitchen and cleaning materials

They are accepting both cash and in-kind donations.

To send your donations, feel free to reach out to the organizers listed below:

DETAILS OF THE EVENT
The fundraising project will conclude in a Christmas Party for the kids, scheduled on December 27, 2014 (Saturday) from 2-5PM in the institution in Malabanias, Angeles City. It will be an afternoon of fun and laughter – playing games with the kids, serving them food and distributing the Christmas presents obtained from this initiative.

In behalf of the organizers of this event, we are inviting you to be part of this great cause and be an inspiration to more people in impacting our world positively.

Volunteers Needed!

We are looking for volunteer bloggers and writers!

Do you want to add your voice or lend a hand in helping spread out the word that there are still good people in this world? Then, write for the Philippine Fundraisers blog.

Philippine Fundraisers and Benefit Shows is a volunteer-led initiative based in Manila, working to promote awareness and charity throughout our country.

Our blog serves as a directory for events and shows that help those who are in need. We are focusing more on small events, not backed up by big sponsorship, corporations and organizations that need help in promotion. It will eventually be an online community of volunteers dedicated to charity. Through it, we hope to engage people in all walks of life about the importance of paying it forward.

If you wish to share your photos, flyers, articles, interviews, event/gig-reviews, infographic, or an open letter of plea, anything you'd like to share, we're interested in hearing from you!

We are looking for three types of contributors:

1) Regular contributors. If you would like to blog more than once, you can send them anytime to us. There is no required number of posts, frequency or deadline. We will have a 'regular contributor' section with a picture of you (optional) and a brief bio with your social links (also optional), or link to your blog (if available), which is a great way to get yourself some publicity!

2) Part-time contributors. We are always on the look out for people with passion and if you have a desire to write about any issue close to your heart but cannot commit to contributing regularly, then this is the opportunity for you.

3) Anonymous contributors. We know the need for privacy as some individuals prefer not to disclose their names whenever they donate or contribute anything for a good cause. If you wish to guest blog, be it a one-time contribution or on a regular basis, we will be hiding your name under an alias, or your chosen pseudonym, and rest assured that we will never disclose your identity to anyone.

For inquiries and interested bloggers/writers, please feel free to contact us.
